Quality Assurance in the PSR Study Program
The PSR Study Program has a quality assurance group which carries out its duties referring to the 40 Study Program SOPs. The PSR Study Program’s quality assurance group team carries out quality assurance in the PSR Study Program referring to the implementation of quality assurance in Faculties and Universities under the Educational Quality Assurance and Development Institute (LPPMP). In its implementation, the quality assurance system is divided into internal and external quality assurance. The Internal Quality Audit (AMI) is carried out by LPPMP at the beginning of every semester. Meanwhile, external quality assurance is carried out by BAN-PT and ISO surveillance audit by PT BSI Group Indonesia Currently the ISO implemented in the fine arts education study program is ISO 9001: 2015.
The real form of support from the quality assurance group is the implementation of teaching discipline evaluations of lecturers and students. The Quality Assurance Team at the fine arts education study program has carried out its duties well and optimally. However, these efforts certainly still have shortcomings which are always being corrected and improved.
The Fine Arts Education Study Program seeks to improve the quality of learning, among other things, by improving the quality of human resources, developing a curriculum in accordance with the needs of the world of work, completing learning facilities and infrastructure and so on.
The Fine Arts Education Study Program as part of FKIP UNS, in maintaining quality when organizing its educational programs is based on the Educational Guidelines for both faculties and universities. To achieve the vision and mission that has been set, the Fine Arts Education Study Program has quality targets to be achieved by 2023, namely:
- Improving the quality of management of the fine arts education study program towards a healthy and competitive institution.
- Improving the quality and competitiveness of graduates
- Achievement of GPA 3.38
- Length of Study Period 4 years
- The waiting period for graduates is 3 months
- Strengthening the monitoring and evaluation implementation system to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of various development programs.
Learning monitoring, which among other things is intended to improve the quality of learning carried out by lecturers, involves several aspects that refer to the Faculty quality manual. To date, only three aspects concerning the quality of lecturers’ learning have been attempted to be revealed which are stated in the lecture monitoring instruments and the quality of lecturers’ teaching by students, namely:
- Punctual start and end times for lectures
- Frequency of lecturer attendance
- Lecture material
To ensure the quality and direction of learning carried out by lecturers, a validation process is carried out on the learning tools (Semester Learning Plans, learning materials and questions) used by the course family coordinator appointed by the head of the study program. This validation process is carried out systematically through the system http://siakad.uns.ac.id. The course coordinator is tasked with reviewing and providing feedback on the learning tools used by lecturers. Furthermore, lecturers are required to revise learning tools according to the notes or review of the course group coordinator.
Meanwhile, to ensure the quality of learning implementation in class by lecturers, a questionnaire is conducted by students at the end of each semester via the http://siakad.uns.ac.id. Students are required to fill out a questionnaire before they see their final course grades. The student assessment instrument for lecturers is in the form of 30 questions divided into four competencies: pedagogical, professional, personality and social. The assessment scores given by students will later influence the lecturer’s teaching performance percentage.
In connection with efforts to ensure the quality of student competence, this is carried out through mid-semester exams and final semester exams, the implementation of which is completely handed over to the lecturer.
Periodically, the Fine Arts Education Study Program always makes efforts to evaluate the performance of lecturers and education staff through:
- Coordination meetings held before the current semester of lectures were attended by the entire lecturer council and education staff. This routine meeting has an agenda to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the Teaching and Learning Process that is already running, the distribution of lecture schedules for the upcoming semester, as well as the preparation of learning tools that will be used. This coordination meeting is used to ensure the quality of learning so that it runs effectively and efficiently.
- Evaluation of students’ abilities and competencies in absorbing lecture material through the mid-semester exam (UTS) and final semester exam (UAS) mechanisms, the implementation of which is completely left to each lecturer.
- Evaluation of the implementation of lecturers’ lectures is carried out through filling out questionnaires by students.
The results of the evaluation above are followed up on an ongoing and consistent basis which is manifested in the form of:
- Give warnings or sanctions to lecturers and students who are unable to meet predetermined performance standards. Sanctions for lecturers, for example, are not given the opportunity to teach or guide, while for students they include termination of their studies or failure to graduate. However, so far, these sanctions have never been carried out because all lecturers have shown excellent performance.
- Regular meetings of study program leaders, lecturer councils, and educational staff to solve problems faced by study programs.
The Study Program has implemented quality assurance very well. And carried out in accordance with SOPs and systemic activities for education quality assurance (SPMI) which are in accordance with LPPMP UNS. The results of study program quality assurance every semester and at the end of the year are very well documented and archived in the Study Program.
